The Voice of the Industrial
Neighbor (VOTIN) Annual Study
An annual survey of hundreds of residents that live near US petrochemical and oil refinery plant sites.
Why the VOTIN Study Exists
When petrochemical, oil refinery or similar industrial plants lack the support of the communities that surround their site, they run the risk of increased regulatory scrutiny, lack of support for expansion efforts and having trouble recruiting and retaining talent. Additionally, they will lack the insights and data needed to counter efforts by organizations that may misrepresent community sentiment with the intention of turning the community against these sites.

Without maintaining an understanding of the sentiment, values and needs of their surrounding communities, these sites lack the insights needed to effectively serve and maintain a positive relationship with these communities.
The VOTIN Study exists to provide insights that facilitate improved relations between petrochemical and oil refinery sites and their surrounding communities.
